Although there is a large range of garden goods at Staunton Harold, it is still very much a plant focused garden centre with a massive range of outdoor plants. Kim Jackson is the plant area manager and has been at the centre for over 20 years. Kim has an extensive plant knowledge and is usually available to help customers with any enquiries. Although most plants are brought from local growers, Kim also frequently travels to Holland and Italy to source unusual and exotic varieties not available in the UK. She buys a great selection of large specimen plants from Pistoia in Italy; this region has become world famous for growing ornamental plants, because of excellent soils and an ideal climate. It is warm in summer so plants grow quite quickly, yet cold in winter so plants become hardened enough to withstand the cold winters of northern Europe. There is a wide selection of shrubs, herbs, vegetable plants (in the season), herbaceous plants, soft fruit, alpines and more. Fruit and Ornamental Trees have always been a speciality at Staunton Harold and we have one of the largest ranges in the midlands. The trees are mainly available as large standards, mostly at around £19.99 for fruit trees and £22 for ornamental trees.A very good buy at the moment are some hardy Trachycarpus Fortuneii (Chusan Palms) at only £15.00 each.
